When it comes to a full-development case, the project is headed by a member of the MPPD team. The MPPD team members have a very strong commercial and supply background, as well as a broad experience in leading the design process, explaining and giving direction on trend, themes and products. The design activity is the beginning of the product development process. The commercial aspect of the process continues until the product is sourced, priced and samples are presented to the customer. The entire commercial process is a red thread, which cuts across all the processes; from design, development, sourcing, and supply to delivery. For example: Helios worked together with the in-house design team of Virgin Atlantic in the total development of their catering equipment for short and long haul.
Another approach would be to set up a co-creation partnership, linking Helios and the customer to a well-known designer or brand. This can be a very successful approach because all parties benefit from each other’s qualities and customers base, as was the case with the Helios-KLM-Viktor & Rolf co-creation for World Business Class Amenity kits.
